Justina Mungo’s art is reflective of the beautiful natural landscapes that surrounded her when she was growing up. She was born and lived in Trinidad, before eventually immigrating to Toronto, Canada. The natural beauty and vibrancy of the countryside, in her native country, was always vivid in her memory. Therefore, it was only natural, as her style developed that she would draw inspiration from that environment which she loves so much. She started by painting designs on bottles and vases, and with encouragement from her husband Gregory, who saw her potential, she and then moved on to larger projects on canvas. When asked about her work, Justina says that there is a little bit of an original memory in each of her paintings. She says that she is on a journey of self-discovery and introspection, and this is revealed through her art.
